Coffee is one of the most pesticide-intensive crops in global agriculture, and the health and environmental costs of that dependency fall largely on farmers, workers, and communities in producing countries — even as hazardous pesticides banned in some regions continue to circulate through global supply chains. In this session, INKOTA presents Poison in Your Coffee, a joint study with Coffee Watch, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, and PAN UK that gathers evidence from major producing countries to expose the scale of the problem and the policy failures that let it persist. The discussion turns to where responsibility lies across the value chain, and to the agroecological alternatives already emerging in coffee-growing regions.
