The Second Road-substance abuse support

The Second Road, a newly established nonprofit with roots in Charlottesville, Virginia, has launched an online support community thesecondroad.org for recovering from substance abuse and addiction.

“We wanted to create a safe supportive space for people in recovery to inspire one another to not only stay on the path of recovery, but to also stretch themselves and help others within the recovery community and beyond. We join the growing movement to end the stigma and discrimination against those in recovery by encouraging people to ‘come out’ about their recovery and concurrently, reach out to ‘do service’ in the world. By showcasing success stories in the recovery community, we can illuminate the contributions individuals in long-term recovery have provided us. The Second Road aspires to make recovery desirable to a younger generation as it supports those who choose to walk the ‘road’ at any age with others they can relate to.”

For additional information, contact Melissa Shore, Executive Director, at 434-295-9595 or at mshore@thesecondroad.org.
